BENIN, Edo – The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Mr. Philip Shaibu has reacted to his impeachment by the Edo State House of Assembly.
In a video message to the people of Edo, the deputy governor described his impeachment an illegal.
He said he was impeached by on trumped up charges for his decision to contest for Edo State Governor under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He denounced the impeachment, describing it as an attack on democracy and a dangerous descent to dictatorship.
He described the allegations as a smokescreen to cover up their true motives.
Shaibu said he will not remain inactive but will fight until the truth is unveiled.
To the lawmakers who impeached him. he said history will judge them for choosing to stay on the side of tyranny.
He expressed his confidence in the Judiciary to give him justice.
