TEHRAN – Israel is currently under attack by the Islamic Republic of Iran in retaliation for the attack of the Iranian consulate in Damascus, during which 14 people, including several commanders in Iran Revolutionary Guards were killed.
Iran officially announced the attacks few hours ago and the first time that Iran will be launching direct attacks on Israel from the home front.
Dozens of Saheed drones, including intercontinental ballistic missiles where launched towards Israel and were already striking targets across the State with sirens sounding everywhere even as the population is agitated with assurances from the Israeli Defence Forces, IDF.
The Israeli iron dome has also been very active intercepting some of the missiles as several jet fighters hover in the closed Israeli airspace.
Confirming the attacks, Spokesman for the IDF, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said a short while ago, Iran launched missiles from its territory toward the territory of the State of Israel.
He called on residents to be on alert.
“Please be alert and act according to the Home Front Command’s guidelines.The Home Front Command’s alert system can provide real-time alerts in areas of danger.
“I remind you that no matter where the threat is launched from, when an alarm sounds you must enter the shelter and wait there for no less than ten minutes. We will update in real-time if you are required to stay there for a longer period”, he said adding that Aerial Defense Array is fully operational and is intercepting threats wherever required, even at this very moment.
“At this time, numerous IAF planes are in the air, ready to counter any threat.
“You may hear explosions from interceptions or debris falling. Since there are a variety of threats, the alerts may be issued across wide areas.
“I urge you to refrain from spreading unverified rumors and reports”, he said.
Meanwhile explosions have been heard in occupied Jerusalem and the western Negev. In Haifa right now – smoke is visible.Sirens are sounding again throughout the occupied territories, with reports of tremors. There are heavy explosions in Haifa and occupied Jerusalem.
Israeli media are describing the attacks as huge and unprecedented by Iran.
Meanwhile there are celebrations in Palestine and in several Iranian cities against the backdrop of the Iranian Armed Forces attacks.
The Iranian attacks according to sources were planned to take place in several stages, with each stage promising to be more severe than the previous stage depending on the circumstances.
In a message to the United Nations, Iran said the military action, was carried out based on Article 51 of the United Nations Charter concerning legitimate defense and that it was in response to the aggression of the zionist regime on its diplomatic buildings in Damascus.
“This matter can be considered concluded. However, if the “israeli” regime makes another mistake, Iran’s response will be much more severe.
“This is a conflict between Iran and the rogue “israeli” regime, which the United States should stay away from”, Iran warned.
