Gaza war: Head of Israel’s Intelligence Haliva resigns

TEL AVIV – Head of Intelligence Directorate in the Israeli Defence Forces, IDF. MG Aharon Haliva has resigned.

He is resigning after putting over 38 years in the IDF following his shoddy handling of Intelligence before Hamas launched the October 7, 2023 attack against Israel.

IDF Spokesman, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said MG Aharon Haliva resigned in coordination with the Chief of the General Staff and has requested to end his position, following his leadership responsibility as the Head of the Intelligence Directorate for the events of October 7th.

“In a decision with the Chief of the General Staff and with the approval of the Minister of Defense, it was decided that MG Aharon Haliva will end his position and retire from the IDF, once his successor is appointed in an orderly and professional process”, the statement said.

The IDF spokesman said MG Aharon Haliva noted his high appreciation for the work of the Intelligence Directorate personnel during the ongoing war.

“The Chief of the General Staff thanked Major General Aharon Haliva for his 38 years of service in the IDF, during which he made significant contributions to the security of the State of Israel as both a combat soldier and commander.
