NFF dismisses Rivers FC protest against NPFL players

ABUJA – The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF has dismissed protest  filed by management of Rivers Football Club, Rivers FC on the qualification of some players to feature in the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL for the season for lack of merit.

Rivers FC had protested against the qualification of Hadi Mohammed(3SC), Adeleke Adekunle, Paschal Durugbor, Muhammed Jamil, Ini Edem Ubom, Ejike Uzoechi and Mike Samuel Zaruma.

According to the NFF, the issue brought before the Committee by Rivers United FC bothers on eligibility of the players.

“The Player Adeleke Adekunle was transferred from Rivers United FC; Paschal Durugbor was transferred from 1472 FC, Muhammad Jamil is a Free Agent, Ini Edem Ubom was transferred from Enyimba International FC, Ejike Uzoechi was transferred from Heartland FC, and Mike Samuel Zaruma is a Free Agent.

“All the players were duly cleared by NPFL within the transfer window”, the NFF disciplinary committee said, adding that that there is no provision in the 2023/2024 framework of the NPFL that prohibits a duly transferred and registered player with valid license not to play any match for his new club starting from the date of his license regardless ofthe fact that the match ought to have been played within the first stanza”, the NFF disciplinary committee said.

Those present during the committee sitting are Barr. J.B. C. Obikwelu (Chairman), Barr. A.I. Abdulrahman (Vice chairman), Barr. Ibrahim Mukhtar (Member), Barr. Wole Ademoyegun (Member), Barr. Bello Galadi (Member) and Queen W. Otarakpo, Esq.(Secretary).
