Nigeria High Commission cautions as Super Eagles tackles South Africa at AFCON

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – The Nigerian High Commission, HC in South Africa has cautioned Nigerians  in his base ahead of the crucial encounter between Super Eagles and Bafana Bafana at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON 2024.

In a statement, the Nigeria HC alluded to statements made by a section of South African citizens against Nigerians living in their country as a result of the Semi-final clash between both countries.

According to the HC, the comments consist of veiled threats against Nigerians cooking jollof rice before the match and showing pepper to Nigerians if Bafana Bafana fall to the highly determined Nigerian side.

The HC advises Nigerians to be watchful of their utterances and be mindful of where they choose to watch the match especially in public places.

The HC also cautioned Nigerians against engaging in loud, riotous or provocative celebration if the Super Eagles wins the encounter.

The HC urged Nigerians in South Africa to maintain good conduct and abide by the law before, during and after the counter.
