LAGOS, Nigeria – Abdul Kolawole Imoyo is a very rare journalist and consummate media relations strategist that is well known in the media circle for his friendly disposition and unwavering accessibility.

He is good almost to a fault so much that his professional colleagues, associates and media practitioners felt his demise so much that they decided to pay him their last rest in the two events preceding his burial, the wake keep at the Harbor Point Event Centre and at the Olive Tree Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church where his funeral service was held.

It was such a solemn moment that many took solace in the fact that he lives on even in death as a result of the lovely memory he left behind for his immediate family, friends and associates.

Although for time constraint, not many had the privilege to mount the podium to reel out what Abdul Kolawole Imoyo stood for but his immediate family and very close associates who all have good tales to tell about him.

From his children, to all those given the privilege to speak, it was not just a tale of his goodness, but his passion in inculcating in his wards the virtues of generosity.

His lovely wife, Folashade Abdul-Imoyo summed his goodness in one sentence: “Okomi, you consistently gave back and torched numerous lives displaying an unwavering commitment to assist others, never growing weary  in your efforts”.

For Morayo Abdul-Imoyo, his dad was an inspiration: “Our home was filled with the sound of Dad’s laughter and his lessons are still fresh in our memories. He was an inspiration and beacon of hope and although he is no longer with us physically, his love will always lead us on our journey through life”. Timilehin Abdul-imoyo spoke of his father’s steadfastness and unrelenting pursuit of happiness.

Teniola Abdul-Imoyo is positive that “Dad’s memory will server as our guide, serving as a constant reminder of the value of family, love and the long-lasting effects of a life well-loved”.

His siblings, Ajimoh, Dele, Ajara and Medina, wrote: “We knew we could count on you. You have touched hearts, transformed lives and positively impacted everyone that crossed your path”.

Amaechi Okobi, his colleague in Corporate Communications wrote, “Your departure has left a profound void in our Corporate Communications family that can never be filled.

“Everyone in the office has a story to tell about his passion, dedication, and positive energy you brought to the office. Your absence will be keenly felt by each member of the team, present and past. The impact you made professionally and the warmth you shared personally will be deeply missed”, he said adding, “as we navigate this sea of grief, we are reminded of your unwavering commitment to our common goals. Your legacy will continue to inspire us in our future endeavours”.

Born 31st 1971, Abdul Kolawole Imoyo who had a Diploma in Journalism from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism and  MBA from the University of Lagos started his career at the Vanguard Newspaper as Business Reporter and rose to be Deputy Business Editor  in 2002 before moving to Business Day Newspaper in 2006, where he rose to become Finance Editor.

He joined United Bank for Africa, UBA in 2010 as Media Relations Officer and later left for Access Bank Plc now Access Corporations, where he rose to become Head PR and Media Relations. In this role, he was responsible for the implementation of the corporation’s short and long term PR strategies.
