YOLA, Adamawa, Nigeria – Brigadier General Mohammed Gambo, Commander of the 23 Armour Brigade in Yola, has been relieved of his duty following the midnight raid on the Adamawa Police Headquarters.

This incident resulted in casualties among both army personnel and a police inspector. Last month, Gambo led 12 heavily armed trucks of soldiers in the invasion.

Brigadier General Paul Zawaya, who hails from Michika Local Council of Adamawa, has been appointed as Gambo’s replacement.

During a reception at the Government House in Yola, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri appeared enthusiastic while welcoming Zawaya.

He urged the new commander to intensify efforts in curbing the state’s crime rate, expressing concern over the recent invasion. Fintiri emphasized the need for Zawaya to collaborate closely with other security agencies to combat kidnapping and various criminal activities in Adamawa.

Fintiri pledged ongoing support to security forces in ensuring a crime-free environment for the welfare of all citizens.

In response, Zawaya reassured the governor of his commitment to upholding security across the state.
