Wash-a-thon: OAU student, Subair Enitan at point of losing hands in quest for Guinness World Record

ILE-IFE, Nigeria – Subair Enitan, a 200 Level Student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, who embarked on a record breaking clothes washing show – Wash-a-thon –  is almost at the point of losing her hands.

Subair Enitan found herself in the hospital after  completing 58 hours of washing clothes with her hand in the quest to enter the Guinness World Record.

Enitan began the quest on Friday afternoon November 24 at the Student Union Building Motor park inside the University campus with thousands of students rallying around her. She began the challenge to set a record for the longest hand cloth washing by an individual after applying to the Guinness World Record for the task last June.

Various students and University officials also paid solidarity visit to the task pavilion to cheer her to victory.

She completed the 58 hours on Monday and was taken in the School Ambulance to the institution’s clinic for a medical check. Enitan ended the marathon after 58 hours, surpassing her initial plan of 50 hours.

Speaking before heading to the clinic, Enitan said she was fulfilled to have completed the task right in front of her mother, Omogbolabo Afolake, who was at the venue for over two days.
