OWERRI, Imo, Nigeria – Stakeholders in Imo State have passed a vote of no confidence on the Resident Electoral Commissioner,  REC, Sylvia Agu stressing that they do not trust him to conduct an Independent free and fair election in Imo State on Saturday, November 11, 2023.

They said INEC as presently led my Mamood Yakubu has been heavily compromised hence his refusal to replace Agu despite evidence of his partisan nature in Imo State.

Agu, according to the stakeholders is often seen in company of Governor Hope Uzodimma who has boasted that Agu is going no where.

Things got worse on Wednesday, when, INEC chairman, represented by INEC Commissioner representing South-east, Kenneth Ukeagu asked the media to go out of the stakeholders meeting which infuriated the stakeholders who decided to boo INEC officials, shooting  “Shame on You”, they told INEC repeatedly.

LP’s deputy governorship candidate, Mr Tony Nwulu, and that of PDP, Jones Onyereri, who represented their flagbearers, and other officials of the opposition political parties vehemently opposed the directive.

Tony Nwulu who displayed fake copies of results uploaded on INEC IREV said the opposition will not allow INEC to upload fake results the way they have done in the past.

The PDP and Labour Party however walked out of the meeting.
