IKORODU, Lagos – Cynthia Omowumi Aloba, the wife of the late Ilerioluwa Promise Aloba, better known as Mohbad, appeared before the Lagos Coroner in Ikorodu and expressed concerns about her safety, stating that she has received death threats since her husband’s passing.
She revealed that these threats extend to social media, particularly TikTok, and she no longer feels safe in her husband’s house.
During cross-examination by David Fadile, who represents the deceased’s father, Omowunmi mentioned her positive relationship with her father-in-law, whom she considered her best friend.
She denied obtaining a Canadian visa but shared that her husband had expressed the desire to move to Canada, citing concerns about having many opponents.
He explained that not posting her on social media was to protect her and their child, fearing for their safety due to family overseas.
Omowumi, represented by her counsel Taiwo Olawanle from Falana and Falana Chamber, then discussed the events leading to her husband’s death. She clarified that they had no quarrel before his passing. She also disclosed that her husband sustained an injury during an encounter with Prime Boy and should have gone to the hospital. However, due to past experiences with NDLEA operatives and fear of Azeez Adeshina Fashola (Naira Marley), he refrained from seeking medical attention.
Omowumi described her husband’s injury as a small, non-deep cut. When a nurse was unavailable, they resorted to first aid and Panadol. She further explained that on September 12, her husband’s friend reached out to another nurse, who administered injections.
She did not know the type of injection given. She also mentioned her husband’s reluctance to receive injections due to his ulcer condition.
Additionally, she noted their visit to Kuda Hospital, which couldn’t treat him, and subsequently, another hospital declared him deceased.
She also revealed that her husband distanced himself from his friend, Michael (Mice), after discovering that he was an informant for Naira Marley, suspecting him of recording conversations about royalties.
The proceedings have been adjourned to November 15 for further deliberation.
