GAZA, Palestine – Not less than 56 journalists have been killed since October 7, when Israel invaded Gaza on a revenge mission after Hamas’ surprise attack on Israel which killed 1, 200 people and 300 Israeli soldiers.

Ismail Al Thawabta, speaking for the Gaza Media office said at least 12,000 Palestinians have been killed since Israel invaded Gaza, and more than 30,000 people injured, 75 percent children and women. 

He said that 55 hospitals have been destroyed, 250 buildings flattened to the ground, 77 mosques and three churches destroyed. He said 165 other mosques were partially destroyed and that 60 percent of residential buildings have  been totally destroyed. 

He said 43,000 residential units have so far been destroyed, 225 others partially damaged. He added that  25 hospitals are now out of service in addition to 55 ambulances.

He said there are now 500  people now in Al Shifa hospital and that the Al Shifa Hospital has been turned into a military barrack and detention centres, with Israeli forces forcing people out at gunpoint. 

He  called for  to speed up evacuation of patients from the hospital and restoration of power so that the five doctors now left at Al Shifa Hospital can attend to hundreds who are immobilised in the hospital including premature babies.
