LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC has put all workers on notice to converge at designated places across the country to protest and voice their opposition to the continued rise in the price of petroleum products which has engendered inflationary trends and suffering among Nigerians.

Petrol currently sells above N560 per litre in Nigeria, following the decision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remove petrol subsidy by fiat, without making short and long term provisions to cushion the effect.

What followed is high cost of food and transport.

Till date the president has not made any statement on the state of refineries and what he is doing to refine petrol locally.

He only gave licences to over 50 companies to import petrol at the expense of the four Nigerian refineries.

However rising from a meeting with with the federal government, President NLC, Mr. Joe Ajaero said that nothing has changed and that the strike will go on as planned.

He urged Nigerians to ignore the voice of fifth columnists and converge at designated spots for the protest.
