BRISBANE – The Super Falcons of Nigeria lost to the England in the round of 16 encounter at the FIFA women world cup in Brisbane.

The Super Falcons lost 4-2 to England in the highly entertaining encounter.

The Nigerian female team gave a good account of themselves, holding the English team to a 0- 0 draw at the end of 120 minutes, forcing the team into a penalty shoot out.

The Nigerian team however failed to take advantage of the deficit of the English team which was reduced to 10 men when a red card was given in the 87th minutes to James, who had been the star of this tournament so far for the Lionesses.

James was issued the red card for rough play, stamping on  Nigeria’s Michelle Alozie.
