MUNICH – Tottenham forward Harry Kane has given Bayern Munich and his current club chairman, Daniel Levy, this week as deadline to resolve his future, The Telegraph reported on Monday evening.
According to the report, Kane is not planning to leave Tottenham once the season starts and will call time on Bayern’s bid to sign him if an agreement is not reached by the end of the week.
The Telegraph added that a new offer from Bayern is likely, with the German champions also wanting the deal sorted “as soon as possible” and before the start of their season with the Super Cup against RB Leipzig on Saturday.
Tottenham reportedly want at least £100 million ($127.4 million) for their star striker and, according to The Athletic news portal, the English club rejected Bayern’s latest offer of around £86 million.
Spurs kick off their domestic campaign away at Brentford on Sunday.
British broadcasters Sky Sports said on Tuesday that Kane is not travelling with the squad for a friendly game at Barcelona. However, this has nothing to do with a potential transfer.
“Lot of players involved in Sunday’s game not travelling. Kane is enjoying life under new head coach and right now it’s looking more likely that he’s staying,” the report said.
Bayern had a first bid of €70 million plus add-ons for Kane rejected in June, before a second increased proposal was turned down at the start of July.
Kane is Bayern’s top transfer target as the current forwards were unable last season to compensate for the departure of Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona last summer.
In the event that the clubs do not reach an agreement, Kane would probably fulfil his contract in London and could then leave Tottenham for free in July 2024.
The attacker has long ruled out an extension. Spurs owner Joe Lewis is said to have instructed club boss Levy to sell Kane now.
