AWKA- Jubilations at the Anambra State Executive meeting as acting chairman Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AIRS) Dr Greg Ezeilo announced. The state generated N2.8 billion Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for the month of July 2023.

This is the first time the state’s IGR got to N2.8 billions since Governor Charles Soludo assumed office as governor in March 2022 and two months Ezeilo since took over as the acting chairman.

 

Mr Richard Nwora Madiebo, the Chairman of Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, (AiRS), had resigned from his position on 1st June 2023 and Ezeilo was appointed as the acting chairman.

 

A source who disclosed this to our reporter said that the acting chairman of Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AIRS) Dr Greg Ezeilo made the revelation during the state Exco meeting held at the government House Awka Anambra state last week Wednesday.

 

According to the source,” when the acting chairman of AIRS Dr Greg Ezeilo had an opportunity to address the executive meeting presided over by the governor, he said ,before I will continue, I would like to use the opportunity to give report card of the IGR to the state governor and members of Exco in the month of July 2023.

“Notwithstanding the prayers and fasting of enemies of the board not to exceed the projected N1.6 bullions for July,the board was able to generate N2.8 billion. He said after cost ,the total money came down to N2.5 billion.

 

The source further said , immediately after the announcement of the great achievement,all members of the Exco erupted in jubilations and it forced the governor to address the the acting chairman of AIRS as chairman.

 

The source also told our reporter that the governor was very pleased with the success story in the board.

 

According to the source,based on the success recorded, the governor approved all the requests the chairman made to improve the state’s internally generated revenue service.

 

The sources said that with the level of success by Dr Greg Ezeilo’s led board in the last two months,it is apparent that the governor may likely approve his appointment as the substantive chairman.

 

“We are hoping by this week’s Exco meeting on Wednesday the governor will officially declare him as substantive chairman with a letter” the sources said
