LAHORE, PAKISTAN – Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Imrah Khan has been arrested.

He was arrested shortly after he was sentenced in absentia to three years imprisonment and disqualified from politics for five years.

Imran Khan was sentenced by a court sitting in Lahore for abuse of office and corruption.

He was said to have abused his powers when he was PM between 2019 and 2022.

Imran Khan was accused of receiving and selling gifts in state possession worth 140 million Pakistani Rupees during his trips abroad.

“His dishonesty has been established beyond doubt. He has been found guilty of corrupt practices by hiding the benefits he accrued from national exchequer wilfully and intentionally,” Justice Himayun Dilawar ruled, while sentencing him in absentia.

In a video he recorded before his arrest, Imran Khan urged his followers not to sit idle and watch his humiliation.

He urged his massive followers to go out and fight for their rights, stressing that what he is doing is not for himself but for the general good of all

Meanwhile, his supporters have trooped out into the streets protesting his arrest and sentencing.

Imran Khan is one of the frontrunners in the up coming Pakistani election.
