BERLIN – Jochen Goetz, the chief financial officer of the German truck and bus manufacturer Daimler Truck has died, the company said on Sunday.

Jochen Goetz, 52, died “suddenly and unexpectedly in a tragic incident” on Saturday, a statement from Daimler said, without giving details. Chief executive Martin Daum said Goetz’s death was a “tremendous loss” for Daimler Truck, which was spun-off as an independently listed company from what is now the Mercedes-Benz Group in 2021.

“I have known Jochen Goetz for more than 20 years and have always worked with him in various functions in an excellent manner. Jochen Goetz was Daimler Truck with heart and soul,” Daum said.

“His work will remain and not be forgotten. Our thoughts are now above all with his family and relatives.”

Goetz is survived by his wife and two children.
