She gets to LASEMS , obviously her lines have collapsed so they could not set line, no one on ground could set line. Oxygen was not there. HO had to run to casualty to get oxygen. Monitor they put her on checking vitals was not working. This same monitory they have complained about. Another HO was the one that used a stethoscope to be checking breathing sounds. He was even confused , went to get another steth and when he got back they were doing CPR for the babe, God forbid

LAGOS ISLAND, Nigeria – The Babajide Sanwo-Olu led Lagos state Government has come under severe criticism following the gruesome death of a medical doctor at the general Hospital Lagos.

Dr. Vwaere Disaco said to have graduated from Babcock University and was almost through with her housemanship at the General Hospital Odan, Lagos Island before the ugly incident.

She was one of the resident doctors occupying the 10th floor of the high rise building and had taken the ancient elevator which has been malfunctioning for weeks during her official duty.

The elevator, which is just being managed by the hospital management disengaged and crashed from the 10th floor to the ground shattering the bowels of the pretty female medical practitioner.

From the video made available to our correspondent, there was blood stains all over the elevator, with her large intestine hanging loosely on the other end. She was said to be still conscious despite her precarious state but lack of facilities and inefficient medical practitioners forced her to give up the ghost.

According to reports, the elevator has not been working well in the past one year with the hospital management just managing to patch it up despite complains from resident doctors. We gathered that doctors are still owed salaries but no one dares to complain.

“They are still even owing salaries of doctors that worked last December but we have no one to fight for us. If you talk, they threaten with licence suspension”, a doctor, who is an eye witness said, adding that doctors and pregnant women who live on the 10th floor climb the stairs multiple times as a result of the elevator.

Recalling the shoddy nature of facilities in the Lagos Island Hospital and last minutes effort to save her life, an eye witness doctor said.

“She gets to LASEMS , obviously her lines have collapsed so they could not set line, no one on ground could set line. Oxygen was not there. HO had to run to casualty to get oxygen. Monitor they put her on checking vitals was not working. This same monitory they have complained about. Another HO was the one that used a stethoscope to be checking breathing sounds. He was even confused , went to get another steth and when he got back they were doing CPR for the babe, God forbid”, she said.

“I can’t even imagine the pain she would have felt omo and she was still conscious. She literally fought for her life”, Kiky Festus said. Another doctor Olarenwaju Aiyepola said, she is aggrieved because they have complained about this elevator for a long time.

“ Particularly aggrieved because we’ve complained for a long time about this elevator. We’ve manoeuvred, managed and prayed each time we had to use it. Empty promises will be made to fix it till it killed one of us”, she lamented.
