ENUGU – Enugu State Governor, Mr. Peter Mbah has banned illegal mining of coal in the state with immediate effect.
Mbah issued the order after encountering illegal mining activities while he was inspecting water pipelines in the state.
He said illegal mining has wrecked untold havoc on the environment and that the development also denies government of lawful revenues.
“Gov Peter Mbah bans illegal mining activities in the state. Illegal miners have wrecked untold havoc on our environment & denied govt of lawful revenues, of course with connivance of govt officials.
“Mbah, while inspecting water pipelines recently met an illegal coal mining site”, Head of his media team, Dan Nwomeh said in a statement.
