LAGOS, Nigeria – The Guinness World Record today confirmed Nigeria’s chef, Hilda Bassey Effiong, better known as Hilda Baci as the new record holder for the longest cooking hours.

She was however confirmed for 93 hours, 11 minutes less than the 100 hours she achieved in Nigeria for her erroneous calculation, officials of Guinness World Record said.

According to GWR  those entering for the contest are offered only five(5) minutes rest per hour but it seems Hilda Baci thought the rest was for 15 minutes per hour hence she was penalised and not given the 100 Hours credit.

Official of GWR also said that they have been reviewing her evidence since she emerged as the new record holder, after cooking more hours than previous holder, Lata Tundon of India who cooked for 87 hours, 45 minutes.

GWR said Hilda Baci however complied with the requirement to cook at least two items and that the number and weight of each item cooked must be submitted with evidence.

GWR confirmed Hilda Baci’s record just as another Nigerian, Chef Dammy is already in line to surpass her record. Already Chef Dammy has cooked for 120 hours and awaiting official confirmation from Guinness World Record.
