COLOGNE – The German women’s Bundesliga has seen attendance more than triple in the past season on the heels of the national team’s success at the 2022 Euros.

The German Football Federation (DFB) told publishers RND that 359,404 fans attended the games, up from 108,483 in 2021-22. The average rose from 806 to 2,723 fans per game.

The season also saw an attendance record for one game, with 38,365 fans watching the Cologne v Eintracht Frankfurt game.

The German Cup final between Wolfsburg and Freiburg even draw more than 40,000 spectators.

Interest in the women’s game has risen sharply after the German women’s team reached the Euro 2022 final.
