SPAIN – Leading club in the Spanish league, Paris Saint Germain , PSG has suspended, one of the greatest footballer in human history, Lionel Messi for traveling to Saudi Arabia to fulfil his tourism commitment.
Messi was suspended for two weeks and would stay away from training in the next two weeks. The suspension will also mean that Lionel Messi will not take part in two league matches.
Messi was said to have travel to Saudi Arabia to fulfil the contract he signed with the Saudi Tourism Agency, after the 3-1 defeat against Lorient on Sunday.
Messi will likely not play for PSG in the next season, following the current impasse with the club. Already, the club believes Messi is not bigger and would use this as a note of warning for players that may contemplate a similar venture in the future. Already, football fans are divided, following the sanctions imposed on him by the club, with some in favour for deterrent, while many are against it for fear of losing their favourite football idol.
Speaking after his arrival in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Messi posted the picture of a sprawling palm tree plantation with the remarks, “Who thought Saudi has so much green? I love to explore its unexpected wonders whenever I can. #visitsaudi”, he said.
Messi who helped his team, Argentina to win the last World Cup in Qatar is seen as a god in Argentina and in world football. He hardly speaks and he is one of the most respected footballers in the world.
Lionel Messi has 458 million followers on Instagram alone and the picture he posted after the visit has seen over 5 million views.
