MUNICH – RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner has a cold and is doubtful for the Bundesliga match at leaders Bayern Munich on Saturday.
“Everything is possible, he could be in the starting line-up or not play at all,” coach Marco Rose told a news conference on Friday. The club said a decision will be made after the final training session later.
Leipzig are fighting for a spot in the Champions League next season and Rose hope they can take advantage of Bayern’s weak spots, such as their recent lack of stability, to leave Munich with a win.
“We can’t allow Bayern to overwhelm us. Our job is to draw out their weaknesses. You have to be confident and believe in yourself in Munich – that’s the key for me,” he said.
Talking about goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi, the coach said that the plan is to have him fit for pre-season. The keeper this week trained on the pitch for the first time after rupturing the cruciate ligament some seven months ago.
“Pete is in good spirits because he’s back in the locker room and feels like part of the team again. He’s making progress bit by bit. The plan is to have him back on board fully for pre-season,” Rose said.
