AWKA, Anambra – Prelate of the Methodist Church, Nigeria,  His Eminence Dr Oliver Ali Aba has called on Nigerians not to  entertain any fear as May 29 will be peaceful and free.

Aba gave the assurance at the inauguration   and presentation of RT Rev  Moses Onyekachi  Nwakama as the  new  Methodist Bishop, Diocese of Awka  on Thursday.

He  contended that whatever may have happened in the last general election, Nigerians should put them behind and move on. According to him, nothing will happen before during and after the swearing in as God will never allow this country to have problem.

He further warned that Nigerians should not allow the country to experience the fate of what is currently happening in Sudan and Kenya respectively. Aba urged the entire Nigerians  to  join hands together and  move the country forward for better.

“Nothing will happen and nothing is going to happen. We Nigerians should be able to love our country. Are we happy with what is happening in Sudan and other parts of African countries? Are we happy with what is happening in Kenya ? I left Kenya last week and last Friday the news had it  that about 89 individuals were buried on act of cultism  which the Kenyan government is saying  that is an act of terrorism. Kenyan government said  it has gone beyond ordinary cultism”

“So all that I am saying is that every Nigerian most have what we call shock absorber and we must agree to take our Nation to the next level. Do you know that Nigeria is the hope of African continent. When they see us,  other Nations in Africa call us their father and why most we not act like fathers to these Nations and live by example. After all, we say that we are the giant of Africa then we must live by what we are . So  what I am only saying is  that on that May 29 it will just be like  normal day , a day of democracy in Nigeria”

“All we know is that one person must be there and not two persons at a time and I want to believe that  whether we are right or wrong we must join hands to build a better Nigeria for the future, especially Nigerians yet unborn and we must fight for our future. We must provide a credible society for them . So when we are talking about May 29th and our problem is that we have no problem.

“I  have been with these politicians for long and they have what they called no permanent friend, no permanent enemy but permanent interest. They are only looking for  permanent interest and we must not create trouble for this country and we must not beat the drum of war. All we know is that God is with us and God loves Nigeria and God will keep Nigeria together.

“When you say that the election is manipulated, is there any perfect situation in the world? Is it every food that your mother cooked that is without blame? Let give peace a chance in this country and live in peace. Those clamouring for  war, I am sure they have not seen war. If there is war in Nigeria nobody is safe. There is no place for us to run to . Are we  running to Cameroon, Chad or Benin Republic? No country will contain us “he said

Speaking earlier ,the newly presented  Bishop of Awka Diocese Rt Rev Moses Onyekachi Nwakamma called for the spirit of ecumenism among the Christian community, noting that the issue of denomination should not create  division among the followers of Christ.

Nwakamma further urged the clergy to win souls for God as shepherds in the vine yard of God, lamenting that most people who call themselves church leaders  have been using the name of God to perpetrate love for materialism instead of spreading the word of God.

According to him, there must be paradigm in the way we do things in the church now. “We can  preach our doctrine with more emphasis on preaching the gospel of Christianity. Don’t go to the place you worship and tell lies. Methodist, Catholic and Anglican, we must preach the truth as a Christian and not our denomination ” he added.
