MUNICH – Former Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann will not take the coaching job at Tottenham, according to the Bild newspaper.
Reports in England said that Nagelsmann, who was dismissed by Bayern last week, was a top candidate to take the vacant position at the English club after the departure of Antonio Conte.
However, the Bild report said on Tuesday that a move to England is not an option for Nagelsmann at the moment. Instead, he wants to process his first sacking and “most difficult stage” of his career so far.
“He wants to learn lessons from it before embarking on a new adventure,” Bild wrote.
Bayern bosses took action after a 2-1 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen on March 19 saw the 10-time reigning champions lose the Bundesliga lead to Borussia Dortmund in an inconsistent domestic season while they have won all games in the Champions League.
The Bavarians then signed former Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel.
Tottenham parted ways with Conte on Sunday evening following his extraordinary post-match rant after Spurs’ 3-3 draw at Southampton last Saturday, in which he launched a furious tirade against his own “selfish players” and shut down uncertainty over his future as “excuses” for a squad who have failed to end the club’s trophy drought that dates back to 2008.
