AWKA, Nigeria – Presidential candidate of Labour Party ( LP) Mr. Peter Obi  has taken a swipe on his political opponents, saying that the Presidency of Nigeria is not a retirement home  for anybody.

He also said that the leadership of the country is not turn by turn but for people with capacity and character to lead.

Mr Peter Obi made the statements in Awka Anambra state during a town hall meeting with state traditional rulers at Government House, Agu- Awka on Tuesday. He said that if the leadership of the country is turn by turn, it is his turn as the most qualified person.

“I have the capacity, character , mental wellbeing and energy to do the job. When you look at me and my running mate’s age, you would discover that we are young compared with the other candidates who are older and our National Chairman is in his fifties but the National chairman of the other candidates are about seventy or over.”

“When you talk about qualification , I am the most qualified and the youngest among them and this is not a job for rehabilitation of people because Nigeria needs a strong and vibrant person as President and one that is in tune with the trending and modern style of leadership so that our country would be counted among the committee of great Nations in the world ”

“We need some body with character and committed  to cause of  governance in  this country. I am offering myself for services not because of my self but because we want to change the country. A new Nigeria is possible and I am coming out  to bring the new Nigeria where every body will be a proud Nigerian. This country belong to all of us ” he said .

According to Obi, if he is elected  president of the country, he will secure and unite Nigerians for good, noting that the country is not secured and united today .

The LP presidential candidate  stated  that Nigerian are not the  people  consuming the acclaimed subsidy but few in government officials and others.

“I want to remove the sharing habit among  us  and replace it  with productivity to secure the future of Nigeria for the youths . We can change things in this  country and we cannot continue in this ways. We most get involve to have a better Nigeria ” he said .
