UMUAHIA, Nigeria – Abia State governorship candidate on the platform All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Prof Gregory Ibe has stated that he is mentally and physically prepared to take the challenges of moving the state to greater height.
He stated this while appearing on village square radio programme on Real FM radio Aba Abia state.
According to him, those saying that he has health challenges and that he cannot run his guber campaign are just being mischievous. He said that he just went to America to make a presentation to United Nations UN and now he is back to continue with his campaign programme.
“I’ am coming to continue with my campaign. Let them say whatever they want . I’am physically fit and mentally sound to run my campaign and lead Abians to greater glory. I want to challenge them to assemble medical doctors and let us submit ourselves for a check . If they found simply BP problem with me, I stand disqualified. I cannot find any issues with my health ,I’ am sound to run for the position of the governor of the State. I’ am sound to lead the state out of poverty. The medical doctors cannot find simply headache with me” he stated.
He reiterated that the only business he has now is to make Abia State work and become great again. Ibe stated that his major dream was to create enabling environment to pull out two millions Abia youths from poverty.
” I will bring creativity in me to bear in governance if elected governor of the state next year.
We need to give the youths the skills and trainings to pull them out of the streets into a productive ventures. Those struggling with me to be governor of the state do not have the skills with me. I respect their own gifts ” he said.
On his plan for Aba, the business hub of the state, he said that his plan is to make the city one of the cleanest and productive hub in the Nigeria.
According to him, he is coming to lead the state where every child , community will not be left in the provisions of the dividends of democracy.
He regretted that Aba has ended up being mismanaged by the government and he is ready to open the city for motorable road to ease business.
According to him, Aba does not only needs good roads but clean and enabling environment for the people to ply their trades.
“They have used roads to deceive our people over the years. Good roads are one of the minimal things a man needs in life to be effective in business transaction. Roads is just one thing to make sure you move around . There are many things we need in Aba and Abia state to be happy and I’ am assuring you that ,if I’ am elected the governor ,Aba and Abia people will be happy. I’ am fully committed to making Aba and Abia to work again. We need quality heath services delivery, good schools and security and others. I’ am assuring you that I will provide all of them if made the governor ” he added.
On his plans for pensioners, he promised to pay the old people who have laboured to keep the state as at when due.
According to him, workers will get their salaries as at when due , noting that if workers are properly paid as at when due, they will be motivated to do their works diligently without recourse to cheating the system .
He also stated that his main dreams was to restore the hope and faith of Abians in governance and put smiles on the face of the presently agonizing people.
“I’am entering into covenant with the good people of the state to be fair and just to everybody . I will do all things to ensure people oriented government where every Abian will be the greatest beneficiary my government. I’am committed and prepared to serve the good people of Abia state fairly and justly” he said .
On his plans for Ariara Market Aba which has been neglected over the years, he assured of turning the market to a world class market if elected governor next year.
According to him, the traders in the market should not entertain any fear because the market will be one of the priority area for his government. Ibe also promised to rehabilitate all the rail roads in Aba and Abia state to assist the traders to move their goods freely in and out of the state.
On why people should trust him on all the promises he is making, he said he has due diligence in America and United Nations, noting nobody can work with UN and America without passing through due diligence.
“My name is more important than wealth. People should entrust me with their votes as I will not disappoint them ” he stated. He stated that God has blessed him enough and he is working to bless others ,which he had started as a private citizen.
