LONDON, UK – Former Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, a British-Indian is set to become Leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister of Britain.

Ironically, Rishi Sunak was defeated by Liz Truss in the last minutes to emerged PM.  He had raised objections to Truss’ tax cut policy,  but it appeared that the Conservative Party was largely in favour of Truss until the British economy started feeling the negative impact of Truss’ policies.

Rishi Sunak, 42 will now be ratified by the Members of Parliament. Earlier,  fellow contestants, including former  British PM, Boris Johnson and Penny  Mordaunt dropped out of the race before  nomination closed, making him the sole candidate for the best job in Britain.

In canvassing for votes, Rishi Sunak described the United Kingdom is a great country but faced  with profound economic crisis.

“That’s why I am standing to be Leader of the Conservative Party and your next Prime Minister.  I want to fix our economy, unite our Party and deliver for our country”, he said.

“I served as your Chancellor, helping to steer our economy through the toughest of times”, he said, adding that  the challenges facing Britain now is greater. “But the opportunities – if  we make the right choice – are phenomenal.

“I have the track record of delivery,  a clear plan to fix the biggest problems we face and I will deliver on the promise of the 2019 manifesto”, he said.

He said there will be integrity,  professionalism  and accountability at every level of the government I lead, and I will work day in and day out to get the job done”, he said.
