LAGOS, Nigeria – Rebecca Nengi Hampson, one of the most endowed former housemates in the television reality show, Big Brother Naija is on a collision course with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC over her acquisition of a new Range Rover and a house.
She had blatantly showcased her new acquisitions and lavish lifestyle on the social media as is the custom among celebrities, most especially those created by the BBN brand as part of effort to shore up their reputation in the estimation of members of the public.
Troubles started for the heavily endowed Nengi, who has been on global shuttle advertising brands and making money when the EFCC dragnet caught up with Micheal Diongoli, her boyfriend, who operated allegedly operated a ponzi scheme and eloped with investors’ funds to the tune of N1.2 billion.
The EFCC had on Monday, 19th of July, arraigned Michael Diongoli before a Federal High Court in Lagos State for allegedly defrauding a retired Army colonel, two professors, a co-operative society, among others to the tune of N1, 286, 580, 656.
Michael Diongoli is facing an eight count charge of conspiracy, obtaining by false pretences and fraud. He was arraigned alongside his two firms, UK-Don Group and UK-Dion Investment Limited, before Justice Lewis-Allagoa.
He was accused of defrauding his victims under the false pretence of multiple returns on investment within six months to one year.
Following his arrest, many of the billionaire’s properties were allegedly confiscated by the EFCC, including the the car gifts to his numerous side chicks, including Nengi based on unconfirmed sources.
The EFCC is yet to respond to the rumour which has been rife on the social media. Nengi has also not spoken on the controversy.
