LAGOS – Nigeria’s rave of the moment and Buga exponent, Kizz Daniel has been released by authorities in Tanzania.
Recall that Kizz Daniel was arrested by STR8UPVibes, organisers of the Summer Amplified Concert in Tanzania, following his refusal to perform. Supporters of the Kizz Daniel reportedly went wild, damaging properties in the arena.
Kizz Daniel was detained shortly after his arrest by police at the Oysterbay Police Station under tight security.
The Chairperson of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, confirmed his release on Twitter Monday night.
Ms Dabiri-Erewa tweeted, “KD has been released . His legal team will, however, report back to the police tomorrow while he will subsequently return to Nigeria”.
Kiz Daniel is yet to speak on circumstances surrounding his refusal to perform at the show and subsequent arrest. But the organisers say he refused to perform because he said he is not having his chain on him.
But ‘The Citizen’, a Tanzania publication, said that the singer failed to show up at the Summer Amplified concert at the Warehouse Arena in Dar es Salaam after pocketing about Sh50,000 to Sh20 million for an event that featured Tanzanian singers such as Mario, Saraphina and Mabantu.
