IKOYI, Lagos – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC today presented more evidence in its quest to nail pop star, Azeez Fashola, better known as Naira Marley for credit card fraud.
The prosecuting witness, Dein White presented additional evidence before Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Dein Whyte, an operative of the EFCC continued his evidence even as the court dismissed the defendant’s objection to the forensic evidence earlier presented by the witness.
Meanwhile, the trial of Naira Marley has been adjourned till Sept 26
Naira Marley is standing trial on an 11-count charge bordering on credit card fraud brought against him by the EFCC.
He pleaded “not guilty” to the charges when he was arraigned on May 20, 2019.
One of the counts reads: “That you, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, aka Naira Marley, and Yad isril (still at large), on or about the 26th day of November, 2018, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, conspired amongst yourself to use Access card no : 5264711020433662 issued to persons other than you in a bid to obtain gain and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 27(1) (b) of the Cybercrime Prohibition, Prevention etc Act 2015 and punishable under Section 33(2) of the same Act.”
