LAGOS, Nigeria – Former Minister of Youths and Sports,  Solomon Selcap Dalung, a former chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC now in Social Democratic Party, SDP has criticized the ruling APC, stressing that by choosing a Muslim Muslim ticket the party has indicated clearly that it never meant well for Nigeria.

Dalung who was speaking on Arise TV said that for Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu to do a Muslim, Muslim ticket means he lacks tolerance.  “It means he cannot tolerate Nigerians from a different religion”, he said, adding that there is no reason why APC cannot lose the general election.

“For him to express this, it is complete incompetence, the message he has sent out  is that I am somebody who cannot tolerate anybody who is not a Muslim, even Babachir  Lawal who has  been his friend has told him that he cannot guarantee his loyalty.

Dalung explained that Nigerian diversity is being mismanaged by the ruling party. As he puts it, “From the day I heard of this, I lost my sleep”, he said, stressing that “Tinubu has attacked multiculturalism by his choice” and that it is now left for Nigerians to make their choice, “but it is a bad decision coming at this time, that there is attack on military and government institutions by Islamic militants”.

According to him, Tinubu made the decision not in favour of the unity of Nigeria but in his desperation to win the election.

“So the election is about him, not Nigeria, because the election should be about country not individual”, he said.

Responding to the revelation that the Governor of  Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele is a member of the APC, he said,  “APC has squandered everything that is in our heritage and development. Muslim Muslim ticket will not be an issue if the country is stable enough but we are living in fear in Abuja based on attack on Kuje Prison.

“I am disappointed by intelligence like President Muhammadu Buhari, these people used motorcycles and they drove many kilometeres and they overran the system. What happened to the military troops stationed there, were they there, what was their response, but I expect that heads would have rolled by now. He has been betrayed by the security forces, so he does not need report to sack them”, he said, adding that  there is the need to strengthen the prison arms squad.

“Manpower is insufficient to defend the system. Kuje should have a full battalion, with digital battalion, armed with drones to monitor the terrain and cctv, with a situation room to monitor each cell”, he said, attributing the problem to endemic corruption that has destroyed the system.

“Poor payment is part of it and non-payment of allowances.  They go on escort, they are not paid, no barrack facilities, no accommodation, no modern prison, with most facilities built by colonial administration”, he explained.

Looking at the present state of affairs, he said Buhar is unhappy. “I think knowing him, if today is 29th May, he will pack his load and leave; he has been disappointed and betrayed by many people he entrusted with responsibility to help him to lead this country.

“Even, me I am disappointed, what we have now is not the APC we started. Those who we voted against are the key actors in APC”, he noted, adding that President Muhammadu Buhari cannot do anything  for now because of the forces against him manifestly proven against him during the APC convention.

“If I were him, I will embark on a blind man fight, he has to dismantle these people before he leaves office”, Dalong said.
