Buhari orders appointees to resign by Monday

ABUJA, Nigeria – President Muhammadu Buhari has given a directive to all his appointees seeking political positions to turn in their resignation letters latest, Monday, 16th of May, 2022,

Buhari gave the order after the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting through his  Minister for Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Muhammed.

According to him, all appointees seeking to be President of Nigeria, governors, or lawmakers are to resign effective, Monday, May 16.

He said  the directives affects all members of the Federal Executive Council but that the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo is not affected since he was elected.

Among those who have indicated interest in political office include, Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi,  Minister of State for Petroleum, Mr. Timiprey Sylva,  Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele,  Minister of Labour, Dr. Chris Ngige, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister for Justice,  Abubakar Malami, SAN and numerous others.
