OSOGB O, Nigeria –  Osun State Governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola  today  showed his supremacy over the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in the primaries held by the  All Progressive Congress(APC) in Osun.

Governor Oyetola defeated Moshood Adeoti, the candidate of  Aregbesola during the primaries.

More surprising to many is the fact that Adeoti was roundly defeated  in Ward 8, Ilesa East Local Government Area, which is the home base of the minister.

Adeoti only polled 124 votes in the local government against  309 votes garnered by Oyetola in an election conducted using Option A4, which requires electorates to queue behind their candidates in open daylight.

Lasun Yusuf, former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives also lost in his home base, ward 5 in Irepodun LGA. Only 10 people queued up in the row dedicated to him, while 323 people lined up for Olateju, who is Oyetola’s man at the ward, while Adeoti, Aregbesola’s candidate got 62 votes.

Speaking on the primaries,  through his media aide, Sola Fasure, Aregbesola said the primaries were farcically counted in favour of the governor.

“On behalf of the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, I will like to thank you most sincerely for heeding the call earlier this morning to participate in our party’s governorship primary and conduct yourselves most peacefully. You adopted a non-violent posture, even in the face of sore provocation.

“You have demonstrated your loyalty to the party and democratic ideals. You have comported yourselves as Omoluabi in the true essence. We have received and continue to receive the reports of the shenanigans of the officials who conducted the sham of an election”, he said.
