GAROUA, Yaounde – A very determined Guinea-Bissau side could not stop the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the 35,000 sitting capacity Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garuoa. They bowed to the Super Eagles 2-0. What a sweet victory!
The very determined Guinea-Bissau nevertheless succeeded in holding the Super Eagles to goalless draw in the first 45 minutes.
But the Augustine Eguavoen tutored side came into the second half with a winning mindset, which paid off in the 56th minutes, when Umar Sadiq found the back of the net, putting Nigeria in the lead.
William Troost-Ekong made it 2-0 in the 75 minutes. The Eagles held on to the 2-0 lead till the end of 90 minutes. The lads of Guinea Bissau tried as much as possible to reduce the tally but their efforts could not yield any fruitful result.
Scoreline at the end of the game remained 2:0. In terms of statistics, Nigeria had the highest ball possession, 61 percent against 39 by the opposing side. Nigeria had 6 shots on target while Guinea Bissau had just one.
