LAGOS, Nigeria – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has arrested one Mr. Bolarinwa Oluwasegun who claims to be a general in the Nigerian Armed Forces.
According to the EFCC, the fake general impersonated Chief of Army Staff, adding that he made false representations to the complainant, Kodef Clearing Resources, that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), had shortlisted him and one others to be appointed the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, and that he needed a short grant “to press and process the appointment.”
Kodef allegedly granted him N270 million to fast-track his appointment.
He allegedly forged a letter of appointment as COAS purportedly signed by the President and showed the same to the victim to further prove his claim,” the EFCC said
