Lagos sinks, public debt now over N424.542 billion

IKEJA, Nigeria – The Lagos State Government has amassed public debt to the tune of USD 1.38 billion about N424, 542, 000 based on debt profile of states released by the Debt Management Office, DMO as at June 2021.

All the states in Nigeria are however indebted to the tune of N1.87 trillion, the DMO has said.

According to DMO, Lagos State remains the most indebted state in Nigeria, followed by Kaduna State with  $559.50 million  that is about N228,651,450,000.

Edo State is the next most indebted state in Nigeria with a total debt portfolio put at $281.47 million that is about N114, 948, 223,000 , followed by Cross River State with $184.60 million debt and  Bauchi, the 5th most indebted State in Nigeria.

Bauchi State now has a debt profile of $133.69 million followed by Enugu State with a total debt profile of N124.22 million debt, followed by Adamawa State, which has accumulated total debt of $116.58 million and Anambra State now indebted to the tune of $144.48 million.
