BISHKEKE, Kyrgyzstan – The rule of law triumphed in Kyrgyzstan on Thursday, December 02, 2021, when the Pervomayskiy District Court in Bishkeke, Kyrgyzstan stopped attempt by prosecutor to declare 13 publications of Jehovah’s Witnesses as extremists literatures.
If the prosecutor had succeeded, the development would have paved the way for the authority to ban the publications in Kyrgyzstan.
The prosecutor intended to follow the lawless path of Russia which had banned the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures (Holy Bible), which it described as an extremist publication against the Russian Law, which prescribes freedom of association and religion.
“The Prosecutor General had attempted to rush the proceedings and gave our brothers little notice of the case. Yet, the defense lawyers were able to file comprehensive written objections submitted by the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania and the Religious Center of Jehovah’s Witnesses of the Kyrgyz Republic”, the Jehovah’s Witnesses said on their website, jw.org.
But to the chagrin of the prosecutor, the Pervomayskiy District Court in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, ruled to dismiss the Prosecutor General’s claim to declare 13 publications of Jehovah’s Witnesses extremist.
“ The judge referred to these objections when deciding that the case did not meet the required court procedure and thus had to be dismissed. The prosecutor has ten days to appeal today’s ruling”, the Jehovah’s Witnesses said on their website. .
