DOHA – Qater 2022 Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Nasser Al-Khater has said that all football fans worldwide are welcomed in Qater during the FIFA world cup which will kick off in November 21, to December 18, 2022.
Al-Khater who was speaking on Al-Jazzera said soccer fans need to demystify what is being said about Qater ahead of the FIFA world cup adding that those protesting against Qater hosting the FIFA world cup need to be aware that there are human rights reforms in Qater, adding that LGBT people are welcome in the state during the world cup.
He said that the FIFA World Cup will be played in 8 eight stadiums, seven of which were built specifically for the tournament and that the Arab Cup has been used as a dry-run ahead of the soccer fiesta.
He said he expects the stadia to be filled to capacity irrespective of the pandemic and that all ticket holders must be fully vaccinated. He said alcohol is not going to be an issue as many people anticipate and that the Arab Cup is being used as a dry run for the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qater.
Qater won the bid to host the first Arab cup in 2010 during the bidding process organised by FIFA.
The eight stadium earmarked for Qater 2022 are Al-Bayt Stadium. The Al-Bayt, is a 60,000-seater venue designed to resemble the tents historically used by nomadic people in the Gulf region. Others are Al-Thumama Stadium, Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, Education City Stadium, Al-Janoud Stadium, Al-Wakrah Stadium, Stadium 974 and Khalifa International Stadium
