IKEJA, Lagos, Nigeria – Chiemeka Arinze, an accomplice to kidnap kingpin, Chukwumeme Onwuamadike alias Evans is dead.  He was 45.

The Evans’ co-kidnapper died in at the correctional centre in Kirikiri where he was being held with Evans and others in Lagos, sources at the correctional centre have said.

Sources at the correctional centre said that Arinze, who has been sick, was rushed from the Correctional Centre to Ajeromi General Hospital on Friday, where he later died.

The medical records from Ajeromi General Hospital, Ajegunle signed by Dr. Salisu B. E. indicated that the deceased who died at the age of 45 was suffering from complicated advanced Human Immunodeficiency Virus, HIV

Chiemeka Arinze,  was  standing trial alongside, Evans, Joseph Emeka, and Udeme Upong, over the attempted kidnap of Chief Vincent Obianodo, the Chairman of the Young Shall Grow Motors, before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of an Ikeja Special Offences Court.

The alleged kidnappers  facing a 7-count charge of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, attempt to kidnap,  sale and transfer of firearms.

A medical report obtained  in court shows , Chemeka Arinze died on Friday, November 26, 2021 as a result of Cardiopulmonary arrest, brought about by the HIV.

The matter is expected to be heard today before a Special Offences Court in Ikeja.
