Comic actor, Baba Suwe dies at 63

LAGOS, Nigeria – Veteran  comic actor,  Babatunde Omidina better known as Baba Suwe is dead.  He was 63 years old. Esho Promotion TV who announced his demise said, “Baba Suwe has lost the battle. May his soul rest in peace”.

He died just few weeks after he took part in the sharing of N500 million worth of compensation handed over by the Lagos State Government to 16 claimants in Ikorodu. They were affected in the ongoing infrastructure development in the area.

The comic actor has been battling with diabetes related ailment, which took a heavy toll on his health. He was admitted  at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital(LUTH) shortly after he received donation of N1 million from Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as well as other Nigerians.

He also received donation to the tune of N10 million  from Reverend Mother Esther Abibola Ajayi, a woman minister.  Baba Suwe will be remembered for his hilarious roles in dozens of films and soap operas.

Born August 22, 1958, Baba Suwe has been active in the Nigerian film industry since 1972. He was in Omolasan,  Iru Esin among others.

He was educated at the Jamaitul Islamial Primary School, Lagos and Children Boarding School, Oshogbo.  He was also at Adekanbi Commercial High School in Lagos before proceeding to Ifeoluwa Grammar School, Osogbo, where he obtained his West African Examination Certificate, WAEC.

He is said to be survived with a son.
