LAGOS, Nigeria – A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of YSEG Hotels and Suites, Ibadan, Hon. Olayinka Oladimeji Segelu, on Tuesday donated a cash of N200, 000 and over 1000 face masks with PDP logo to members of the party in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Segelu, who aspired for the House of Representatives to represent Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency in 2015 on the platform of PDP, made the cash donation at the general meeting of the party in Lagelu. The YSEG Hotels and Suites MD/CEO assured the members of Lagelu PDP that he would always do his best to support the programmes and activities of the party in the local government.
He urged the PDP members to continue to work together in peace and unity for the interest of the party, particularly as the 2023 general election gradually draws closer. Hon. Segelu further stated that the PDP remains the party to beat in all elections in the whole of Oyo State, pleading that no form of division and bitterness must be allowed among the members.
“I want to assure the wonderful members of PDP in Lagelu Local Government Area that I will continue to invariably show my support to the party in every way as we collectively join hands together to ensure the progress of the party.
“Though, there is no gainsaying the fact that PDP is the winning party in Lagelu and the entire Oyo State, we must continue to work together as a team devoid of acrimony and rancour,” Segelu admonished.
The members expressed gratitude and appreciation to Segelu for his kind gesture and support towards the PDP in Lagelu. They were particularly impressed that the young politician took after his father, a compassionate politician who was gruesomely murdered while serving as House of Reps member in 2007.
Hon. Segelu equally applauded “the effort of the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on the commissioning of the renovated Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, and the hosting of the Slovenian team, NK Tabor Sežana that will be playing against Oyo’s Shooting Stars Sports Club as we would be witnessing the official opening of the complex today (Wednesday).”
He described the modernization of the Sports Complex by Makinde as one of the stupendous feats that will boost talent discovery and development in the area of sports in the state. The PDP Chieftain said the significant impact the governor is making in sports development, with the upgrading of stadiums in Oyo States, was a clear indication of his determination to promote sporting activities for the engagement of youths in the state.
