ONITSHA, Anambra, Nigeria – Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) network has announced that most electricity customers in parts of Abia and Anambra States will not have power supply for some days as a result of faults recorded at some of the Transmission Company of Nigeria stations (TCN).
This was contained in a statement issued by Head, Communications, Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) Emeka Ezeh and made available to journalists in Awka Anambra state
According to Emeka, there was explosions in the early hours of Sunday at Aba Transmission Station switchyard, which resulted in loss of supply to Alaoji Line 1. He said the explosion affected supply to the whole of Aba and Ariaria in Abia State.
Emeka also said as a result of the development, the following feeders have been without power supply. “They are Ehi Road 6.6KV; Aba Overhead 33KV; ECN Road T3B Aba Control 33KV/11KV, Aba Owerri 33KV, Ukwa 33KV, ECN Road T3A Aba Control 33KV/11KV, IGI 33KV and Aba-Umuahia 33KV” he said .
Emeka Ezeh recounted that since Thursday, 16th September 2021, customers in Awka, Ekwulobia and Ogidi have been without power supply due to tripping on the Onitsha-Oji 132KV line, which affected the Agu-Awka and Nibo TCN Stations.
According to him, the Nibo TR2,15MVA, 33KV/11KV and TR4, 15MVA, 33KV/11KV, Neni 33KV, Agulu 33KV, Aguleri 33KV, Enugu Ukwu 33KV and Agu-Awka 33KV feeders were all affected by this fault.
“As a service provider, this is quite challenging, as the situation has negatively impacted service delivery to our esteemed customers within these affected areas, as well as impacting the revenue we are expected to generate from these customers” he said .
He said the team of the company have been in constant touch with the TCN, following up to ensure that these faults are cleared within the earliest possible time and supply restored to the affected areas.
“Since we are the ones interfacing with the customers, we owe them this information and also appeal for their patience and understanding. We sincerely regret the inconveniences this situation has caused our esteemed customers and assure them that supply will be restored once TCN is done clearing these faults” he said .
The company’s spokesman assured customers of EEDC’s commitment to delivering improved services.
