MOSCOW, Russia – The Moscow City Court has upheld the conviction of kidnappers of Russian pop star, Avraam Russo. 

Three suspects, Vladimir Gusakov, Elyar Damirov and Zaur Mardanov were sentenced in May 17, 2021 for kidnapping Avraam Russo in 2004 by Presnensky District Court, Moscow.

The district court found the three guilty of kidnapping Avraam Russo and sentenced them to 5 and 6 years in prison respectively but they were released from punishment due to the expiration of the criminal prosecution limitations period.

According to the court materials, in 2004  Mardanov along with five accomplices kidnapped  Avraam Russo and brought him to Ismailov’s cottage in Moscow Region for “work negotiations.”

The musician however suffered injuries during the kidnap episode.
