IKARE- AKOKO, Ondo, Nigeria – The NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani has disclosed that one of the reasons for the establishment of the scheme is to groom graduate youths to take up leadership responsibility in the country.

To this end, the State Coordinator admonished the deployed prospective corps members to prepare to give selfless and patriotic service to the nation right from the orientation camp and throughout the service year. Mrs. Ani expressed these views on Sunday evening when she briefed the 2021 Batch ‘B’ (Stream II) prospective corps members deployed to Ondo, the Sunshine State.

“Dear prospective corps members, you need to start to take responsibility for positions of trust this country is preparing you for. As graduates that have been found worthy in learning and character by your respective institutions of higher learning, NYSC remains the molding ground that prepares you to actualise your potentials”.

Mrs. Ani announced that the three weeks orientation course is designed to expose the prospective corps members to various leadership training and activities that will make them better Nigerians.

“Anyone aspiring to the position of leadership should learn to make sacrifices for the general well-being of citizens and residents of this country starting with your colleagues here in camp. You have to be your brother’s keeper and protect them in any way you can”.

The NYSC Ondo State boss insisted that all programmes and activities are compulsory, and that instructions must be adhered strictly to.

“Your predecessors that came before you submitted wholeheartedly to the camp administration and we have been having seamless and stress-free orientation courses and now that it is your turn to undergo the three weeks intensive orientation course, we are expecting you to be more disciplined and cooperative”.

“Abide by all the rules and regulations governing the conduct of orientation course, especially the non pharmaceutical protocols of COVID -19 and do not be at the wrong side of the law so that you will not face the full wrath of the law. We have structure on ground to try erring corps participants and I hope you will not give chances to the Camp Court to prosecute you”.

“On a very serious note, I want you to pray for the continuous peace in the country. Pray that we remain one indivisible entity and use the opportunity of your mobilisation and subsequent deployment to strengthen the unity and oneness among the various components that make up Nigeria” she said.

The State Coordinator in the course of the briefing exercise unveiled the three Corps Camp Directors that will assist in the running of the affairs of the three weeks orientation course.

The selected Corps Camp Directors: Otobo, Binalayefa Joshua with code number OD/21B/2789; Ukwa James, code number OD/21B/2748 and Okpan,Ugonma Awa, code number OD/21B/2335 will serve for one week each.

The COVID -19 Enforcement Vanguards and Camp Court Committee were equally inaugurated with a charge from the State Coordinator to them to do everything humanly possible to discharge their respective duties effectively in line with the mandate establishing it.
