MOSCOW- A Russian businessman and inventor, Artashes Ikonomov has lost the case he filed against American tech giant, Apple over alleged violation of his copyright to a utility model in his SOS Mobile phone.

Ikonomov’s model allows his phone user to make an emergency call without a SIM card.  But Apple says the patent it granted Ikonomov was for a separate device.

Ikonomov believes that Apple is illegally using the application he deployed in his more than 30 inventions despite his patent.  Apple  has however insisted that it never used the applicant’s technology on its smart phones as alleged.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court  agreed with the ruling of lower courts and found Ikonomov’s  arguments groundless, following his failure to support his arguments in court with testimony  from experts and the Russian patent agency.

Last year, Apple failed in its bid to invalidate the registration of the Inkomov’s patent in an intellectual property court.
