ONITSHA, Nigeria -All Progressive Congress APC , Anambra state  has affirmed senator Andy Uba as the party’s candidate for the  November 6,governorship election.

Ejidike who spoke to  journalists in Awka Anambra State said that the party conducted free and  credible governorship  primary  election that produced Senator Andy Uba on 26th June 2021 as  the candidate. According to the chairman , the statement credited to some party chieftains that there was no  governorship primary election in the state was unfounded .

According to him, Senator Andy Uba emerged candidate of the party after a governorship primary election that most APC  members participated. He said the party had affirmed the candidature of Andy Uba and of course his name has been submitted and  listed with Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.

“The party held its governorship primary election on 26th June 2021 that produced Andy Uba as candidate. Today we have a candidate in the person of Senator Andy Uba and we also have his running mate in the person of Barr. Emeka Okafor. The fact  is that the party has a candidate whose name has been listed  with INEC ” he said.

He appealed to all  party members to support the candidature of Andy Uba for the victory of the party come  November 6, governorship election. Ejidike disclosed that the party in the last registration and revalidation exercise registered over 500,000 members and it is now in position to take over the governorship position in the state.

“The 500,000 registered voters are active members ready to work for the party in the forthcoming election” he said. He said that given what the federal government had done in the state, many people have accepted the party in the state and are joining and willing to support the party in the election.

Ejidike also disclosed that , in the next two weeks , two senators and some  members in the   House of Representatives  from  the state are likely to join the party to strengthen the capacity  of the APC in the state.
