LAGOS, Nigeria – Nollywood filmmaker, Yomi Fabiyi has described his suspension by TAMPAN as invalid.
Fabiyi was suspended over his film, Oko Iyabo, a film he made on Baba Ijesha who is on trial for alleged molestation of 14 year old girl. In the film, Fabiyi allegedly used real names of people who commented on the issue, leading to his suspension.
Fabiyi said he neither obtained nor filled any form that made him a TAMPAN member. He however said he was made to pay some money as registration fee.
“I have never obtain or sign any form with TAMPAN or joined any guild. I was made to pay for registration which I did but no form collected or formal procedure.
“The letter is inappropriate, not valid for me as a filmmaker”, he said, adding that any reaction from him will be on the basis of human rights violation, through judicial redress if he so wish.
“You don’t loose what you never had”, he said.
