TOKYO, Japan – Russian Olympic Committee(ROC) has won the second Olympic Gold medal in gymnastics at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympics in Japan. The team picked maximum points to defeat team USA, ending their decade reign in gymnastics.
ROC win in gymnastics places the team 4th on the overall medal table. But it was Viktoriia Listunova who got the lead for ROC with her superb execution. She secured maximum point of 14.166 thereby expanding the distance between ROC and Team USA.
With just 10. 535 to go, Angelina Melnicova did a nice job ending with a small hop back on the third pass to complete 13.966 to earn her team the well deserved gold medal.
Melnicova was in tears as team ROC embrace one another after securing total point of 169.528. USA secured a total of 166.096 to pick silver while Britain secured 164.096 to settle down for the bronze medal.
