LAGOS, Nigeria – On the banging track, “Sepe and Agbalumo”, music executive Efe Omorogbe resurrects his producer/performer alter ego Freak and assembles a stellar cast of hell raisers to deliver an intoxicating ode to G-Funk.
The record features hot rookie Ijaya, in the exalted company of BBN champ Efe and respected vets Mr. Raw and Sound Sultan.
Produced by Freak and Poller, the recording which started as a birthday photoshoot joke betrayed the first hint at seriousness when Omorogbe reached out to MI Abaga for a voice note, the “sepe” sample. With a rousing hook laid over blazing track, a #16KillaBarsSearch on Instagram threw up countless responses and voila, an official Freak single is the result.
The release comes with a Fam Biz Remix featuring sibling Change Aura and nephew PKD.Within his pre-music exec circles, Efe Omorogbe is still affectionately referred to as “Freak”.
When O.Gs like Jimmy Jatt, Ayo Animashaun, Six Foot Plus, Modenine, Kunle Ayeni, El Dee XL, Andre Blaze and co refer to him as “Freak”, they’re using the moniker by which the rapper, producer, writer and thinker expressed his passion back in the day.
“Sepe & Agbalumo” is Efe Omorogbe ‘catching cruise’ while resurrecting and establishing Freak, the guy that got him into the game in the first place.
